Announcing Baudelaire – a New EP – and a Few Local Shows

By Bart J Helms

You’ve probably seen the announcement on social media by now, but just in case…

We’ve finally announced a release date for Baudelaire – our third official release. Featuring Ryan and Andy on bass and drums, we recorded it last winter with Josh Estock at the board (and digging out the sweetest, most natural sounding mic for Lyndsy’s vocals).

A giant thank you to everyone who has already pre-ordered.

Baudelaire Release Shows

April 11 – The Brass Rail (Fort Wayne, IN)

May 9 – CS3 (Fort Wayne, IN)

June 6 – The Phoenix (Fort Wayne, IN)

When we agreed to compose Nosferatu for the Cinema Center a year ago, we put the release on hold. It wasn’t entirely intentional or voluntary as we hadn’t given up on finding a way to tour to support the album. I’m still up in the air over whether that was a mistake, personally, but as a consequence, we’re learning to balance our current project with thinking about what to do next. Next in the immediate future are the trio of shows, our first regular old bar gigs in a long time.

After that, we’ll have another announcement – maybe oh maybe – hope of hopes – about how we plan to release music a little quicker than once every four years in the next couple of years. For now, we hope you enjoy the six songs. We may have a little write-up on each in the next few weeks.

End Times… torrents?

By Bart

Loyal listeners, one of the more popular search phrases that routinely leads people to this very website is “end times spasm band torrents.” Though this never fails to elicit a small eyebrow raise from yours truly, I felt a need to corral these fine folks’ browsers with a post to point them toward our Bandcamp page, where #2 is currently available for whatever price one is willing to pay – be it for free or for the $25 one satisfied listener was willing to part with.

#2 – Sold Out!

By Bart

We’ve sold out of our EP, #2*! To celebrate we’ve dropped the price of the mp3s on Bandcamp to $0 so that you can name your own price. If you waited to long to pick one up, now’s the time.

*Well, we actually have 2 discs left – to disappear Friday night most likely. (And a few more may be tucked away at a Wooden Nickel in Fort Wayne, but we couldn’t find them.)

CDs at Wooden Nickel

By Bart

In case you can’t make it out to a show, copies of #2 are now at Wooden Nickel in Fort Wayne, at least the N. Anthony store. (You can thank Lyndsy, because my lazy butt sure didn’t brave the cold to do it.)

Join us at the Dash In at 9:00 tonight to pick up our brand new EP! We’re debuting a few new songs about ugly babies, having two left feet, no-good men, and how to hiddy-ho!

We’ll be joined by Adam Speck, playing his own mostly brand new set. Can you feel the excitement? We can!

Chain Smoking acceptings preorders on the EP!

By Bart

The Chain Smoking site is now accepting preorders on the EP! Click here! We’ll let you know when we have physical copies. We don’t have any shows booked where we’ll be able to sell them before Christmas, so we decided to offer you a chance to order one and have it mailed to you as soon as they’re available.

The first 50 copies sold will have itty bitty lyric booklets! (After that we’ll have a pdf version available on the website – but the folding and cutting of it will be up to you)

Download the new EP!

By Bart

Loyal Listeners! You can download the new EP over at Bandcamp. By the end of this week, we’ll be taking pre-orders for the real physical CD over at the Chain Smoking Records website, whose store is finally going active.

We hope to have the CDs in before Christmas. So don’t be surprised to hear us announce an appearance at a local record shop sometime between now and then.
